Healing caps are then screwed into the abutments which allow a dressing to be wound around the caps in a ‘figure of eight’ pattern.
This dressing aids in the healing of the area and pushes the skin tightly around the abutments. Usually a further dressing is added over the top and stitched into place.
This dressing is changed in the outpatients department on a weekly basis for about 4 weeks until the skin around the abutments has healed.
