Together with other collaborating hospital units, research centres and university-based specialists, CARTIS has a wealth of expertise to offer any research or commercial collaboration.
Maxillofacial Unit at Morriston Hospital
The Maxillofacial Unit is an essential part of the Tertiary services at Morriston Hospital, providing Oral and Maxillofacial, Orthodontic and Restorative services on a local and regional basis.
The service is led by 6 Maxillofacial Surgeons, 3 Orthodontic and 3 Restorative Consultants and their teams all supported by a 15 strong state of the art, Maxillofacial Laboratory.
The Unit has a world renowned reputation for its work in implantology, craniofacial surgery and 3D planning and regularly delivers advanced training courses for postgraduate students in all three disciplines.
National Centre for Product Design + Development Research (PDR)
PDR is a world renowned design and innovation consultancy and research centre.
Over the last 17 years they have been using their unique approach to help large and small companies from around the world to discover, design and develop successful products and services. PDR’s work encompasses the full range of design support, from original research, user insight and analysis through to design, prototyping, low volume rapid manufacture, tooling management and new product introduction.
PDR’s design research examines both the macro and micro environments for the effective application of product design. This strategy is achieved through three research themes:
PDR’s research programmes have direct relevance both to industry and the needs of individuals and the wider community. PDR collaborates with many small manufacturing companies as well as major multi-national organisations, government agencies, charities and hospital trusts.
PDR’s Medical Applications Group (MAG) develops individually tailored products and services that improve clinical outcomes by meeting the rigorous demands of medical professionals, industry and the research sector. With 12 years of experience using cutting-edge product development techniques and close links to medical professionals, the group are focused on delivering innovative new solutions to modern healthcare needs.
The MAG aim is “to become a leading centre in the research and development of advanced design and manufacturing technologies for application in patient-specific medical products.”
