Anatomical Medical Models are accurate physical reproductions of patient CT, MRI or surface scan data. They can be used to assist in surgical planning, as in-theatre visual references, and as jigs to assist the fabrication of implants or wearable devices such as burns splints. They are manufactured using Stereolithography Apparatus (SLA), ProJet 3D Printing or CNC machining. Information on the processes and materials is available here [LINK-PDF] and here [LINK-PDF]. Before making an enquiry or submitting an order, please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the process below.

1. Enquiry
PDR's medical models are based on scan data of anatomy. Typical formats include DICOM data from CT or MRI scans or STL data from surface scans. Optimal CT scan protocols are described here [LINK-PDF]. MRI data can also be used (most successfully for soft tissue models, though bone can sometimes be segmented if required).
Models are fabricated using Stereolithography Apparatus (SLA), ProJet 3D Printing or CNC machining. Information on the processes and materials is available here [LINK-PDF] and here [LINK-PDF].
Digital reconstruction or modification of the anatomy is available on request. Please see the Digital Reconstruction page [LINK] for details.
Upon obtaining the relevant scan, there are two options for delivering the data to PDR:
> By recorded post, on CD-ROM, including a completed model requisition form [LINK-PDF] to:

2. Quotation
Upon receipt of the data and requisition form details, PDR will prepare a quotation which will be sent to the provided email address or fax number. If we need to clarify your desired model extents, model type, or modifications, you will receive an email and images of the 3D CT reconstruction to review first.
Prices are entirely dependent on the size and nature of each individual case. However, a very general selection of estimates is provided below:
ProJet Lab Mandible: £300
ProJet Lab Midface: £550
ProJet Lab Orbits: £350
SLA Lab Full Cranium: £1100
SLA Lab Face Splint: £550
SLA Theatre Mandible: £350
SLA Theatre Midface: £600
Digital Reconstruction [FreeForm CAD]: Add £60/hour per model.
If digital reconstruction has been requested [LINK] a sign-off form will be attached with the quote which MUST be completed and returned before the build can commence.

3. Order
To order the model, PDR can accept a purchase order number by fax or email. For urgent cases, a clear build request statement can be accepted in writing whilst the PO number is being raised.
We aim to begin the build on the same day as receiving the order.
