CARTIS objectives are:

To become the pre-eminent UK centre for the research, development and application of advanced technologies in surgery

To develop long-term international collaborations

To provide specialised teaching and training in advanced technologies in surgery

To assist in the transference of new techniques and approaches into clinical practice

Specifically, the new centre will:

Undertake and publish high quality research

Develop and refine new techniques and approaches such that can be reliably transferred into a clinical environment

To develop and provide named patient custom design and manufacturing capabilities for models, prostheses, implants, surgical guides, instruments and appliances

Provide training and updates for clinicians and associated professionals

Provide a basis for the further development of collaboration with other groups in related fields
